Housed in the former Carver High School, George Washington Carver Museum and Cultural Center honors the history that shaped the African-American community locally and nationally. Visit a sculpture garden erected in memory of the 1963 bombing of a Sunday school in Birmingham, Ala. and a research library and boardroom filled with more than 1,400 titles. The museum is available for rent to host an event and tours are offered by appointment. The center is a good choice for school field trips or family educational outings.
